The Skidmore Family History Group was set up in 1988 with the aim of putting people with a shared interest in the surnames of
SKIDMORE and SCUDAMORE
and the less common variants
SKITMORE and SKIDGEMORE
in touch with each other. Now in 2006 the group has 150 members worldwide and encompasses a remarkable collective breadth of knowledge. The interest of members ranges from specialists in the mediaeval families, through those who pursue an in-depth study of a particular branch of the family, to those who simply wish to research their own line. Members are drawn from most branches of the wider family so for those new to Skidmore/ Scudamore ancestry it is likely that within the Group there is someone to whom the newcomer, in need of help, can turn for friendly advice.

Linda Moffatt (née Skidmore), who set up and runs the Skidmore Family History Group, has been for nearly 20 years a member of the
GUILD OF ONE-NAME STUDIES
having registered with the Guild an interest in the surnames mentioned above. Guild members undertake to answer any reasonable request for help in researching family history matters related to their registered surnames, so long as postal requests are accompanied by return postage.
